🎬British Movietone - Their Majesties receive a great welcome in the historic city. Guard of Honour outside City Hall. Royal car drives through crowded streets, people waving flags, banners, streamers etc. Children in their thousands, many waving flags. Car arrives at College, King and Queen alight, walk through quadrangle and cloisters. Passed through hundreds of schoolboys. Car driving through crowded streets.

🎬A look at Eric Ashby's commitment to the study & welfare of Badgers. Particularly those of the New Forest. Narrated by David Attenborough.
It looks at his ground breaking approach to filming badgers 'close up' in a purpose built Sett. He encouraged wild badgers to visit his sett and use it as if it were there own out lying retreat.
This is Eric's third noteable film for the BBC. Previous films: The Unknown Forest (1961). The Major (1963). Eric also wrote two books. The Secret Life of the New Forest (1989). My Life With Foxes (2000). Eric died on 6th Feb 2003.

🎬All through the year Eric Ashby watches and films the wild deer, foxes, and badgers of the New Forest. Last summer (1961) Peter Scott visited 'Badger Cottage' in the New Forest, to look at Eric Ashby's latest films and to see where they were made.
Peter Scott's natural history series 'Look' ran from 1955 to 1969 and was the BBC's flagship wildlife programme.

🎬British Pathé – Harvesting holly in the New Forest. "What a poor old festive season it would be without a touch of holly!" Deep in the New Forest we found the holly harvesters." Various shots of girls harvesting holly in the New Forest in Hampshire. They pull down holly trees by hauling on ropes and cut down single branches. They tie the holly into bunches. Finished holly bunches are loaded on to horse and cart with pitchforks. Horse and cart move off through forest with girls walking alongside. Cute end shot of two young children carrying holly bunches walking towards camera. This is presumably shot around Christmas time. No C/Us of the girls but nice pictorial quality to the shots
