🎬British Movietone - Quite rightly the people of Tristan da Cunha are to live near the sea. Overlooking Southampton Waters, their new homes are at the former RAF station at Calshot. Everything's been done to make them comfortable in what used to be married quarters, and even the larders were stocked!

🎬British Pathé – A race for aeroplanes takes place at Bournemouth racecourse. Item title reads: "A new holiday thrill. Aeroplanes replace horses in races around Bournemouth racecourse. Bournemouth, Hampshire M/S of the racecourse with various parked aircraft. The biplanes take off and skim low over the track in front of the crowd in a sort of race. 🎬British Movietone - It's the Westland SRN2 again for the first public demonstration over the Solent. Mr Peter Lamb, Chief Test Pilot for Saunders Roe was at the controls, and it wasn't long before the latest "Hoverbus" was bidding up to 60 miles an hour. She can carry up to 66 passengers, and the verdict, a very comfortable ride, with no more than slight pitch and roll. A number of American Naval experts were on this trip. So was the hovercraft's designer.
